The Campaign: An Open Letter

Dear Senators Edwards and Biden,

My wife and I have much admired Governor Richardson's courage in breaking long-standing ties with the Clintons and coming out in favor of Senator Barack Obama' candidacy. Having voted for Senator Edwards in California, and with the greatest admiration for both of you and your work on behalf of the American people, we urge you to take the earliest possible opportunity to follow Gov. Richardson's lead. The damage to our Democratic party may prove irreparable in this fall's election unless leaders like yourselves stand up at this difficult moment to help unify our vision. Unfortunately, Senator and former President Clinton have used every means at their disposal to discredit Barack Obama and his message, even going so far as to suggest that a Republican might be a better candidate. I think most fair-minded voters will agree that the negativity of the current campaign has come largely from their side. What purpose does it serve to wait until June--or longer? We see none. It's time this stopped, and your endorsement is critical to that end. Thank you for listening.

Sincerely,

Peter & Ellie Clothier

The above applies also to former Vice-President Gore, President Carter, Speak Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and other Democratic leaders. At long last, some courage, please!
