"ONE HOUR/ONE PAINTING" OPPORTUNITIES

A little promotion, this morning, if you'll bear with me.

I thought that local readers of The Buddha Diaries might be interested in having early notice of some "One Hour/One Painting" sessions scheduled in the Los Angeles/Orange County area.  At these events, I invite small groups to sit with me in front of a single painting for a full hour.  I do not "talk about" the painting, but rather act as a guide.  Part meditation, part contemplation, the sessions are about "slow looking"--slowing down and taking the time to really look at a work of art.  The experience can also change the way you look at things other than art and even, perhaps, the way you live your life.  We tend to be in haste with everything we do.  These sessions invite you to try "slow."

Here are the sessions scheduled in the next couple of months:

May 24, 6:30 PM, Gregg Chadwick Studio, Santa Monica: artist, Gregg Chadwick *
June 5, 6:00 PM, Bill Turner Gallery, Bergamot Station, Santa Monica: artist, Ned Evans
June 19, 6:00 PM, Lora Schlesinger Gallery, Bergamot Station, Santa Monica: artist, Michael Beck
June 28, 6:00 PM, Laguna Art Museum, Laguna Beach: artist, Clarence Hinkle

* Fair warning: this session will be videotaped for possible inclusion on Tricycle magazine's website.  We anticipate no significant disturbance for participants.

Because seating is limited (in order to assure good sight lines,) I ask for advance reservations.  Since this is a part of my professional work, I also ask for a modest attendance fee--which has the added benefit of insuring that well-intentioned people do not reserve one of the limited places and then forget to show up!

For further information about "One Hour/One Painting" sessions and for reservations, please contact Emily Poliakoff at emilypersist86@gmail.com.  Emily all be happy to help.
