A Follow-Up

As you'll see from my note in response to yesterday's "Comments," I was gratified to receive so much support for what I had to say in the "Dear Mr. President" letter I posted yesterday. It was, as I pointed out, a hard letter to write, because I like the President so much, and because I want so much for him to be able to beat back the vile attacks on his policies and his person. Some suggested, online and off, that the letter should be more widely disseminated. I did send it to the White House, but clearly it has little hope of reaching the President's eyes. It will be posted shortly, I hope on my site at the Huffington Post. It will be Tweeted and Facebook'ed to my own somewhat limited social network outreach. It would be wonderful if readers--those who agree with the contents of my letter and feel that it might help matters it if were more widely read--would send out either copies or links to their own lists of contacts, or post their own versions of it on their blogs. If we succeed in making enough noise, in the right kind of way, we might yet get some much-needed clarity from the man in the Oval Office. Thanks!
